According to the Regulation 1/2, paragraph 16 of the Annex to the STCW’1978 Convention, as amended, the information on the status of information about the certificates of competency, endorsements, Seaman Book, dispensations, certificates of proficiency and documentary evidences for masters, officers and all ranks of seafarers in accordance with Regulation 1/2, paragraph 15 shall be made available, in the English language, through electronic means.

The Maritime Directorate of Slovak Republic – (MDSR) which is a Maritime Administration office under Government of Slovakia.  informs the IMO Member state, Maritime Administrations, Shipping Companies, Manning Agents and PSC officers that the verification for the authenticity and validity of any kind of certificate for the National and Foreign Seafarers, can be made fully automatically here on Official Online Verification System of Slovakia Maritime Administration.

In conjunction with the above the procedure for the verification is as follows:
Enter the Document Number mentioned in Certificates  or Enter the Marine Id Number of the seafarer in the respective fields and click “Search”. The required document data will appears as in verification result page.

In case there is no information for a certificate issued , the person seeking verification can contact MDSR office Directly on the e-mail: verification@mdsr-govt.org with the information about the seafarer and attach a scanned copy of the certificate along with the seaman Book, and STCW certificates ,  The Maritime Directorate of Slovak Republic  will verify the certificate by returning an e-mail answer with all the information required.
